Psychic Realism
In her innovative creativity Carla has conceived the term “ Psychic Realism” as a trademark of her art. Carla’s dynamic sense of colour in her paintings brings out the emotional psychology of her subjects and consequently at the same time rendering a deeper understanding of our human existence. Carla defines her style as an archaeological dig, a peeling back of layers of one’s soul to get at the truth during a period where deeper understanding of self is necessary. Her distinctive style combines realism with abstraction where she captures immediate connection with the observer taking them into the depth of their own realities. Her characters are emotionally charged, brilliant in colour and intensity. The way she expressed her portraits is exceptional. Looking into the eyes or the gestures of her subjects immediately renders the viewer hypnotised, emotionally engaged and immediately connected. She amalgamates figurative art and abstraction in a unified way as to understand the psychology behind the artist’s intent while peaking self reflection in her audience.
